The fall of crude oil prices hit a fifth day on Wednesday, thanks in part to how growing COVID-19 cases across the U.S. and the world will affect the outlook for fuel demand. Investors are worried the surge in cases will eventually result in a growth of crude oil in storage.
The tumble in prices also caused another day of losses for many Oklahoma energy stocks.
West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery dropped $1.13 to finish at $65.46 a barrel.
Global benchmark Brent crude oil for October delivery fell 80 cents and closed at $68.23 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Oklahoma energy stocks struggled to avoid major losses while one firm, NGL Energy Services recorded a nearly 9% gain for the day.
