Energy news in brief

** The Minnesota Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear an appeal by opponents of Enbridge Energy’s Line 3 oil pipeline, letting stand a key decision by independent regulators to allow construction on the project to proceed.

** North Dakota’s attorney general files a motion seeking to resume oil and gas leasing on public lands.

**  U.S. Energy Storage Association member companies officially approved a planned merger with the American Clean Power Association , effective Jan. 1, 2022.

** Andros Capital Partners LLC  announced it has closed a joint venture with Midland-Petro D.C. Partners, LLC under which Andros affiliate Andros Permian LLC will fund approximately $150 million to participate in a development drilling program targeting the highly productive Spraberry and Wolfcamp formations in Midland County, Texas.

** Brightmark LLC and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. announced the second expansion of their previously announced joint venture, Brightmark RNG Holdings LLC, to own projects across the United States to produce and market dairy biomethane, a renewable natural gas.

** China announced on Wednesday the discovery of a major shale oilfield in the Daqing Oilfield cluster with expected reserves of 1.27 billion tons of oil, Chinese Xinhua news agency reported. Daqing Oilfield is one of China’s major onshore production centers, and the new discovery is expected to help it boost its oil production in the coming years, according to Xinhua.

** Imperial Oil Ltd, one of Canada’s biggest oil producers and refiners, on Wednesday outlined a plan to process vegetable oil into renewable diesel at its 191,000-barrel-per-day Strathcona refinery.

** Permian Basin in the western part of Texas and the south-eastern part of New Mexico — continues its comeback. Output from the United States’ number one basin is expected to rise by 49 Mbbl/d month over month to 4,805 Mbbl/d in September, reaching the maximum since March 2020.

** 2021 has so far had a record number of clean power installations, according to a report by the American Clean Power Association, with more than 180 gigawatts of operating clean power capacity in the country.

** NextEra Energy asks the federal government to either identify an anonymous group of solar manufacturers that wants to expand tariffs on Chinese-linked solar imports or reject its request.

** The U.S. Department of TransportationsFederal Aviation Administration(FAA) awarded $20.4 million in grants to reduce emissions and improve air quality at airports across the country. The awards will fund zero-emission airport vehicles, including their electric charging infrastructure, and will electrify the ramp equipment used to service planes at the gate.

** A group calling itself “Nantucket Residents Against Turbines” which could be another name for “Not in My Backyard”  plans to file a lawsuit to try to stop the offshore Vineyard Wind project over concerns about construction proximity to endangered whales.
