Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is expected to sign a bill similar to one already adopted by Oklahoma that bars cities from banning natural gas hookups in buildings.
The Texas state Senate approved House Bill 17 on Tuesday and sent it to the governor. Gov. Abbott supported the measure along with the natural gas industry.
A Beaumont Democrat, Rep. Joe Deshotel originally filed the bill after Oklahoma and Louisiana passed laws against any local natural gas bans.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed HB3619 into last one year ago.
