Two Oklahoma wind farms highlight ALLETE’s corporate report

 

Minnesota based ALLETE Inc. released its 2020 corporate sustainability report, highlighting the company’s performance related to energy and the environment and pointing to the addition of two more wind farm operations in Oklahoma.

The report also focused on the firm’s diversity attempts including numbers reflecting leadership by women and the inclusion of business projects involving  LGBT-owned firms.

The report focuses on its industry guidance about climate-related financial disclosures, making it easier for investors and others see the progress of ALLETE and its business units including ALLETE Clean Energy.

Among the climate highlights was ALLETE Clean Energy’s addition of the Caddo Wind farm in western Oklahoma and the Diamond Spring wind project near Ardmore.

ALLETE Clean Energy is considered to be ALLETE’s fastest-growing company and the addition of the two wind projects in 2020 increased its wind facility portfolio to more than 1,000 megawatts across seven states. It also has another 300 megawatt wind site under construction.

  • Corporate giving totaled more than $850,000 in 2020, providing significant benefits to the communities we serve.
  • More than 40% of ALLETE executive officers and over half of the ALLETE board of directors are women. Recently, Moody’s Investors Service identified ALLETE as having the most gender diverse board among 45 utility companies it examined for a report on board gender diversity at publicly traded North American utilities.
  • ALLETE is working to expand and partner with diverse suppliers including minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, LGBT-owned, small economically disadvantaged businesses, HUBZone businesses, and disability-owned businesses so that our suppliers reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
