Solar operations expand in Arkansas

Another central Arkansas solar operation was scheduled to begin this week with groundbreaking in the city of Cabot.

Central Arkansas Water planned ceremonies to break ground on a 4.8 megawatt power station on a 30-acre piece of land in Cabot.

Arkansas Business reported the 12,300-panel array will be the state’s first PSC-approved net-metering facility with a capacity more than 1,000 kilowatts.

The Arkansas Solar Access Act, created in 2019 made possible the Cabot station. The act allows nonprofits, schools, government agencies and other non-taxed entities to use third-party solar service agreements to obtain federal clean energy tax benefits.
