Senate confirms McCabe as Deputy EPA administrator

Janet McCabe was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Tuesday to be President Biden’s deputy EPA administrator, but it came without the support of Oklahoma U.S. Sens. Jim Inhofe and James Lankford.

The final vote was 52-42 as the two Senators voted against McCabe’s nomination. Inhofe had previously voted against McCabe during the March vote taken by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. At that time, the committee vote was 11-9 to send her nomination to the full Senate.

Three Republicans, Susan Collins of Maine, Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted for her confirmation on Tuesday.

Republican Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi backed McCabe in committee but did not vote for her on Tuesday’s final Senate vote.
