Nebraska utility customers deal with millions in winter storm bills

Like utilities across Oklahoma and Texas that are dealing with historic high natural gas costs from the February winter storm, a utility in Nebraska is dealing with $80 million in natural gas costs.

Black Hills Energy customers in the state could be hit with significant rate hikes to pay for the costs of the natural gas purchases that occurred between Feb. 12 and 18.

The Lincoln Journal-Star reports Black Hills, with more than 300,000 customers in Nebraska had more than $600 million in additional energy costs in the six-state territory it covers.
