Senators put hold on Interior Secretary nominee

For now, the nomination of Democratic congresswoman Deb Haaland of New Mexico to be the Interior Secretary, a nomination opposed in committee by Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford, isn’t going anywhere in the Senate.

Montana Republican Sen. Steve Daines, who spoke out against Haaland’s environmental stands for being extremist was joined this week by Wyoming GOP Sen. Cynthia Lummis in putting a hold on the nomination.

“I will be forcing debate on Rep. Haaland’s nomination,” Daines wrote on Twitter, citing her opposition to “pipelines & fossil fuels” and her stances on wildlife management and trapping on public lands reported Huff Post.
