Newest Evergy board member is a former US Senator

 

Former Louisiana Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu has joined the board of directors of Kansas City-based Evergy, Inc. as a result of the company’s new agreements with Bluescape Energy Partners LLC and Elliott Investment Management L.P.

Landrieu’s appointment was effect March. Also named to the board following the agreement was Bluescape Executive Chairman C. John Wilder. The two will become members of the Board’s Finance Committee.

“Both John and Mary have proven track records creating significant value for all stakeholders, and we welcome them to the Board,” said Mark Ruelle, Evergy Board Chair.

In connection with the agreement, Bluescape will be making an equity investment of approximately $115 million in Evergy by purchasing newly issued Evergy common shares. Bluescape will have the option to purchase additional Evergy common shares over the next three years at a per share price that is 20% higher than the current per share market price.
