Kansas legislature moves to help customers with gas bills

Legislators in Kansas are racing to help towns and ratepayers facing out-of-sight utility bills following the bitter cold weather that hit the state last month.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported how legislators fast-tracked a measure to provide loans to small towns and municipalities so they can pat bills in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. One bill was signed last Thursday night by Gov. Laura Kelly and her signature came only 12 hours after the measure first passed in a State House Committee.
