The big plunge in crude oil prices on Friday means investors and traders start out Monday with levels under the $60 mark in the U.S. and less than $63 in Europe.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil for March delivery fell $1.28 to $59.24 a barrel Friday. Brent crude oil for April delivery fell $1.02 to $62.91 a barrel in trading on ICE Futures Europe.
March natural gas fell too, dropping 1 cent to $3.07 per 1,000 cubic feet.
While crude oil prices fell, most Oklahoma utilities and energy stocks made gains before prices settled for the day on Friday.
Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. went up nearly 2% with an increase of 11 cents to close at $6.30.
Chesapeake Energy gained 2.33% on a $1 increase to $44.
