Record low temperatures reported in Oklahoma

The -22 degrees recorded at Kenton Monday morning tied the lowest temperatures recorded in the state since the Miami Mesonet site dropped to -22 degrees back on Jan. 17, 2018.
State Climatologist Gary McManus with the Oklahoma Mesonet reported the -22 in Kenton was also the lowest temperature ever recorded for all Feb. 15ths on record for the state. The previous record was -15 at Vinita in 1905.
Remember, the all-time record low for Oklahoma is -31
degrees set at the Nowata Mesonet site back on Feb. 10, 2011.
Near record wind chill readings were also reported including the -36 degrees at Boise City, the lowest since 2011. Hooker, Oklahoma reported a wind chill reading of -38 in 2016.
McManus had a prediction in Monday’s Mesonet report—we will likely see more records set as far as what he called “ludicrous temps” are concerned.
He expected record low high temperatures across the state to be shattered throughout the day and more record setting lows to occur Monday night.
