New STACK drilling efforts approved

Oklahoma’s STACK play will see some new drilling efforts as state regulators handed out drilling permits to Ovintiv Mid-Continent Inc.

It means the Denver-based energy company remains eager to make more large finds in Kingfisher County where it had significant success in 2020 as indicated in recent completion reports.

Ovintiv received permits to drill four JIMENEZ #1708 wells on a single pad at 21 17N 8W, a site approximately 8 miles northwest of the city of Kingfisher.

The company has 18 months to begin drilling. It would signal the company’s latest effort to continue exploration of the STACK play where a few other well operators are drilling. At least one drilling rig was reported north of Geary and a rig is still located south of Calumet.

Permits were also issued Friday to Rush Creek Operating LLC for the LOST CREEK #32-2 well in Creek County.

Mewbourne Oil company received permits for a two well, single pad site in Ellis County. The  DOWLER 15/10 OB #1H and
GROSS 22/27 BO #1H wells will be located at a site several miles south of Arnett along Highway 283.

Charter Oak Production Co. LLC received a permit to drill the BOYLE #1 in McClain County. The site is about one mile west of Purcell.
