Kansas lawmakers reconsider a statewide energy plan following historic cold weather

A move by Kansas legislators to reconsider whether the state needs a statewide energy strategy is one that will have a direct impact on at least one Oklahoma energy company. It’s a direct reaction to the historic and extreme cold weather that hit Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

ONE Gas serves 2 million customers in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas and the Kansas Gas Service, the largest in Kansas is one of its divisions.

The markets in Kansas City, Wichita and Topeka, Kansas are among the largest natural gas distribution markets by customer count for ONE Gas.

A bill making its way through the Kansas legislature would require the state to create a statewide energy plan by the end of January 2023 according to the Hutchinson News.
