Devon Energy is among those with most active rigs in US

 

 

The energy analytical firm Enverus Rig Analytics reported Thursday the US rig count slipped over the past week to 447.

The Austin, Texas company said the drop of four was as of Feb. 24 while the count is still up by 4% in the past month. However, the year to date count is down 46%.

The company said one of the most active operators this month is Oklahoma City’s Devon Energy with 18 rigs active in the different oil plays in the U.S.

EOG Resources has 25 active rigs. Pioneer Natural Resources is busy with 18 in the field. ConocoPhillips has 16 active rigs and Occidental Petroleum has 14.

Enverus reported that more than 60 rigs were added nationwide since the start of 2021. BP had the largest increase with five rigs, bringing its total to 12. Four were added in the Eagle Ford.

Mewbourne has added four rigs, three of which were in the Delaware Basin, and has 11 total running. Permian pure-play Diamondback Energy has added three rigs since the start of the year and is now running 10. More than 100 companies have added one or two rigs apiece in the new year.
