US crude oil prices settle above $53

US crude oil prices easily topped the $53 a barrel mark in Thursday’s trading and started heading to $54 a barrel. Overseas oil prices closed up as well.

West Texas Intermediate crude for February deliver rose 66 cents to finish the day at $53.57 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude oil for March delivery finished up 36 cents to settle at $56.42 a barrel in trading on ICE Futures Europe.

 

February natural gas fell 6 cents to $2.67 per 1,000 cubic feet.

The robust increase in US crude prices apparently affected some Oklahoma energy stocks including SandRidge Energy where shares jumped 75 cents for a gain of more than 18% to reach $4.87 for the day.

The increased crude oil prices didn’t help Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Corporation where executives were still no doubt celebrating a federal judge’s approval of the company’s exit plan from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Chesapeake stock suffered a nearly 18% plunge when shares fell 69 cents and finished Thursday’s trading at $3.21.

Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. had a 7 cent increase or 1.25% gain to settle at $5.69.

Blueknight Energy Partners LP Common Stock had a half-point gain when shares rose one cent to $2.02.
Continental Resources, Inc. closed with a 2% gain when shares rose 38 cents and finished at $19.77.
Cypress Environmental Partners LP went up 18 cents for a more than 7% gain for the day and closed at $2.71.
Devon Energy Corp had a 6% gain as shares rose $1.15 to finish at $20.28.
Enable Midstream Partners LP shares increased 19 cents for a 3.15% gain to $6.22.
Gulfport Energy Corporation shares went up 3.25% to 12 cents.
Helmerich & Payne, Inc. saw a 10% gain when its stock increased $2.48 and reached $27.53.
LSB Industries, Inc. rose about 1% with a 3 cent increase and closed at $3.89.
Laredo Petroleum Inc settled up $2.06 at $27.74 for a gain of more than 8%.
Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. lost 5 cents to close at $46.07, a slip of 0.11%.
Mammoth Energy Services Inc finished up 13 cents for a 2.84% gain to $4.70.
Matrix Service Co fell 42 cents or 2.73% to $14.94.
OGE Energy Corp. lost 44 cents and slid 1.41% to $30.72.
ONE Gas Inc dropped 6 cents to $71.46.
ONEOK, Inc. had a $1.02 hike to $44.76, a gain of 2.33%.
Ovintiv Inc closed up 45 cents for a 2.59% gain to $17.84.
Williams Companies Inc shares had a 2% gain  when they rose 45 cents and closed at $22.69.
