Supreme Court considers climate change lawsuits against fossil fuel companies

The future of climate change lawsuits against fossil fuel companies now lies in the hands of the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Tuesday, justices heard arguments whether such lawsuits filed by the city of Baltimore should stay in state courts or in federal courts where some believe the oil and gas industry might have more favorable chances of winning.

As POLITICO reported, the  decision to eventually be reached by the justices sometime later in the year will likely determine the path for more than a dozen other legal challenges the oil industry is facing.

It could be a decision that will have a direct impact on Oklahoma oil and gas firms that potentially could face such climate change lawsuits.
