Joining the ranks of the unemployed in Oklahoma

 

Those thousands of oil and gas workers who lost their jobs in the past year in Oklahoma will be joined on the unemployment lines by employees of the Family Video Company.

The Illinois-based firm plans to shut down operations of 300 stores across the U.S.

It intends to close all 23 stores in the Oklahoma, according to an announcement by Oklahoma’s Office of Workforce Development.

Bill Hancock, the Business Services & Rapid Response Coordinator for the Office said the closings might happen sooner if the store products sell out. So far, he said the Family Video store closing announcement does not affect the company’s Marco’s Pizza operations in the state.

The Family Video stores are located in:  Elk City, Clinton, El Reno, Yukon, Mustang, Edmond, Oklahoma City, Moore, Norman, Purcell, Shawnee, Seminole, Miami, Pryor, Tahlequah,      Owasso, Sapulpa, Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Okmulgee, Enid, Lawton and McAlester.
