Eight new Republicans named to House Energy and Commerce

 

Oklahoma congressman Markwayne Mullin got a better idea this week of the Republicans who he will work with on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Chairwoman Cathy McMorris, a representative from Washington state announced eight new members to the committee—picks that have yet to be formally ratified by the full Republican conference.

The 8 new members are Reps. Kelly ArmstrongDan CrenshawJohn CurtisNeal DunnJohn JoyceDebbie LeskoGary Palmer and Greg Pence.

As a Republican member of the committee, Rep. Mullin sits on three subcommittees. The Health Committee creates health policy and provides oversight for the different healthcare entities.

He also sits on the Environment and Climate Change subcommittee which deals with soil, air, noise and water contamination and emergency environmental response.
The subcommittee focuses on the regulation of solid, hazardous, and nuclear wastes, including mining, nuclear, oil, gas, and coal combustion waste.

The third subcommittee is Oversight and Investigations which is responsible for conducting oversight and investigations of any matter related to the jurisdiction of the full committee.
