While U.S. crude oil futures reached that magic figure of more than $50 a barrel in Thursday’s trading, overseas crude prices settled at more than $54 a barrel.
West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery went up 20 cents and settled at $50.83 a barrel in Thursday’s trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude finished up 8 cents at $54.38 a barrel in trading on ICE Futures Europe.
As a result, Oklahoma energy stocks jumped as well and the biggest gain of the day was the 57.41% reported by Chesapeake Energy Corporation. Its shares rose $1.24 and finished the day at $3.40.
Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. finished up two cents for a 0.41% gain to $4.91.
Blueknight Energy Partners LP had a five cent increase or 2.44% gain to $2.10.
Continental Resources, Inc. finished down 45 cents for a 2.27% drop to $19.38.
Cypress Environmental Partners LP saw an 8 cent increase to $2.40 for a gain of 3.45%.
Devon Energy Corp closed up 24 cents at $18.57, a gain of 1.31% on the day it completed its acquisition of Tulsa-based WPX Energy. WPX no longer trades on Wall Street and its last quote was issued Wednesday.
Enable Midstream Partners LP had a 15 cent increase to $5.56 for a gain of nearly 3%.
Gulfport Energy Corporation had a 4.58% gain as its shares finished the day at 7 cents.
Helmerich & Payne, Inc. jumped 78 cents to settle at $25.88 for a gain of 3.13%.
LSB Industries, Inc. finished up 7 cents at $3.69–a nearly 2% gain.
Laredo Petroleum Inc ended the day up 30 cents at $24.18 for a gain of 1.26%
Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. had an increase of $1.05 and settled up 2.37% at $45.39.
Mammoth Energy Services Inc dropped 6 cents to $4.68 for a slide of 1.27%.
NGL Energy Partners LP gained nearly 6% as shares rose 15 cents to reach $2.78 for the day.
OGE Energy Corp. fell 72 cents or 2.19% to finish the day at $32.20.
ONE Gas Inc took a $3.08 loss or nearly 4% and closed at $74.41 per share.
ONEOK, Inc. had a 2.16% gain as shares finished up 86 cents at $40.70.
Ovintiv Inc settled down 8 cents at $17.36 for a loss of 0.46%.
PHX Minerals Inc lost 8 cents or 3.10% and closed at $2.50 for the day.
SandRidge Energy Inc. dropped 5 cents to $3.70 for a slide of 1.33%.
Williams Companies Inc finished the day with a 4 cent increase to $21.54, a gain of only 0.19%.
