BP slapped with ‘hypocrisy’ claims by Texas regulators

We’re not sure whether BP learned from some governors and mayors who flaunted the very COVID-19 rules they created then ignored them in a “rules for thee but not me” fashion.

But the British energy company was hauled before the platform of hypocrisy at the Texas Railroad Commission this week. BP, the company that called on regulators last year to end the routine flaring of natural gas went before the Texas regulators with a request—permission to flare 121 of its wells.

Bloomberg reported the Commission’s newest member wasn’t happy about it as he said the burning of excess gas was a “waste of our precious resources.”
