The state of Colorado has gone to court with a lawsuit challenging the Bureau of Land Management’s plan to expand oil drilling what’s called the Uncompahgre Plateau, a nearly 1.5 million-acre geologic uplift in the southwest part of the state.
In filing the lawsuit, Gov. Jared Polis said the BLM’s long-range plan did not follow the state’s laws and regulations that are meant to protect water, air, wildlife and recreation. The lawsuit also named BLM bureaucrat William Perry Pendley and Interior Secretary David Bernhardt and asked a federal judge to overturn the BLM’s Resource Management Plan for nearly 680,000 acres of federal land west of Montrose, Colorado.
