185 lose jobs at Texas tubing and piping company

 

The downturn in the oil and gas industry, one caused by the coronavirus pandemic has led to the layoff of 185 workers at a related pipe plant in Liberty, Texas.

Workers for Bommerang Tube LLC got the recent news as the company also notified state officials.

“Boomerang does not know if this layoff will exceed six months or otherwise result in an ‘employment loss’ as defined by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act,” stated the company in making its WARN notice.

Boomberang, headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri has manufacturing operations in Houston and Liberty where pipes and tubing is made for oil and natural gas companies.

The company had 340 people employed at the two plants before the layoffs including 235 at its operation in Liberty. The layoffs in Liberty included 50 salaries employees and 135 hourly workers.
