Oil hits 9-month high on vaccine rollout Monday

 

The nation’s rollout of a vaccine to fight COVID-19 spurred investors on Wall Street Monday as crude oil futures hit a 9-month high. But it turned into a low for Oklahoma energy stocks.

West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose 42 cents to $46.99 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It amounted to a nearly 1% gain.

The global benchmark Brent crude for February deliver jumped 41 cents and finished the day at $50.36 a barrel in trading on ICE Futures Europe. The change was about a 1% gain.

Natural gas rose 9 cents and finished at $2.68 per MMBtu for a nearly 4% gain for the day in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

But the exuberance over the distribution of the new vaccine didn’t transfer to Oklahoma energy stocks as most suffered losses for the day.

SandRidge Energy Inc. was an exception as shares jumped 33 cents to finish at $3.44 for a gain of nearly 11%.

Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. dropped about 2% or a dime a share to finish the day at $4.99. Blueknight Energy Partners LP fell 5 cents or a decline of nearly 3% to $1.75. Chesapeake Energy Corporation closed down 12 cents at $2.18 for a drop of more than 5%.

Continental Resources, Inc. suffered a more than 7% drop as prices lost $1.41 and settled at $17.47. Cypress Environmental Partners LP  slipped a penny a share to $2.64. Devon Energy Corp
finished down 79 cents at $15.37 for a slide of nearly 5%.

 Enable Midstream Partners LP lost 31 cents and closed at $5.60 for a drop of 5.25%. Gulfport Energy Corporation plunged nearly 9% to finish the day at 7 cents per share. Helmerich & Payne, Inc.
lost $1.19 for a decline of 5% to $24.12.

LSB Industries, Inc. dropped 23 cents or about 8% and settled at $2.66. Laredo Petroleum Inc lost $2.28 and closed at $19.51 for a 10.46% drop. Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. closed at $45.57 with a $1.01 loss or 2.17% decline.

Mammoth Energy Services Inc finished up a penny per share at $4.10. Matrix Service Co dropped 29 cents to close at $9.32 for a loss of more than 3%. NGL Energy Partners LP closed up 4 cents at $2.83 for a gain of more than 1%.
OGE Energy Corp. lost 8 cents and settled at $32.08. ONE Gas Inc
slipped 2 cents and finished the day at $80.01. ONEOK, Inc. lost $1.43 for a decline of 3.44% to finish at $40.14. Ovintiv Inc closed down 81 cents at $14.58 for a loss of more than 5%.
PHX Minerals Inc suffered a nearly 9% loss as shares closed down 20 cents at $2.08. WPX Energy Inc fell about 5% and closed down 41 cents at $7.91. Williams Companies Inc dropped 42 cents and closed at $21.51 for a 2% fall.
Other energy stocks suffered losses too according to the Texas Energy Report.
