Friday wasn’t a good day for most energy stocks

 

Crude oil futures closed down on Friday with West Texas Intermediate crude slipping 21 cents to finish the day at $45.57 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Trading prices of crude for January delivery had reached more than $47 throughout the day before settling lower for a loss of 0.47%.

Global benchmark Brent Crude for February delivery lost 28 cents and slipped under the $50 a barrel price to settle at $49.97 in ICE Futures Europe.

Two Oklahoma energy companies stood out as trading wrapped up for the week on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Chesapeake Energy and Mammoth Energy Services.

Chesapeake shares finished up 36 cents for a gain of nearly 19% to close at $2.30 on Friday.

Mammoth Energy had a second consecutive big day as its shares rose 54 cents to settle at $4.09 for a gain of more than 15%.

Otherwise, most energy stocks saw losses in the headlines. Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. finished down 14 cents at $5.09 for a loss of 2.68%. Blueknight Energy Partners LP dropped one cent and closed at $1.80. Continental Resources, Inc. lost 35 cents for a 1.82% decline to $18.88.

Cypress Environmental Partners LP lost 7 cents for a 2.57% decline to $2.65. Devon Energy Corp shares fell 41 cents to $16.16 resulting in a 2.47% loss. Enable Midstream Partners LP
dropped 7 cents to $5.91 for a 1.17% slide.

Gulfport Energy Corporation suffered a more than 6% drop to just over 8 cents a share. Helmerich & Payne, Inc. lost 43 cents a share to finish at $25.31 for a decline of 1.67%. LSB Industries, Inc. was down 4 cents for a 1.37% loss to $2.89.

Laredo Petroleum Inc closed down 35 cents for a 1.58% loss to $21.79. Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. had a 51 cent jump for a gain of 1.11% to $46.58. NGL Energy Partners LP finished with a 5.12% loss after shares dropped 15 cents to $2.78.
OGE Energy Corp. settled at $32.16 for an 18 cent loss.  ONE Gas Inc managed a 26 cent increase to $80.03. ONEOK, Inc.
 lost 18 cents to finish at $41.57. Ovintiv Inc closed up 14 cents for a nearly 1% gain to $15.38.
PHX Minerals Inc closed down 8 cents at $2.28 for a loss of 3.39%. SandRidge Energy Inc. lost 6 cents for a nearly 2% slide to $3.11. WPX Energy Inc shares dropped 21 cents for a 2.46% loss to $8.32. Williams Companies Inc finished the week with a 7 cent per share loss to $21.93 after reaching its highest close in nearly a year earlier in the week.
Other energy companies had similarly bad day based on the Texas Energy Report.

Enterprise Products Partners (EPD) up 0.24 at 21.61 – change 1.12%

EOG Resources (EOG) up 1.08 at 53.60 – change 1.98%

ExxonMobil (XOM) down 0.21 at 43.80 – change 0.48%

Kinder Morgan (KMI) down 0.04 at 14.75 – change 0.28%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) down 0.24 at 7.06 – change 3.29%

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) down 0.34 at 14.32 – change 2.32%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) down 0.42 at 20.89 – change 1.98%

Parsley Energy (PE) down 0.39 at 14.37 – change 2.65%

Phillips 66 (PSX) down 1.35 at 69.51 – change 1.52%

Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) down 3.22 at 115.57 – change 2.72%

Valero (VLO) down 0.84 at 59.03 – change 1.41%
