Energy news in brief

** The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran unveiled this week the second oceangoing oil tanker it has helped to build, to show that the Islamic Republic has managed to build a tanker despite the U.S. sanctions imposed by President Donald Trump, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported.

** Canada’s Direct Coil, a heating and cooling solutions company announced plans to locate its first U.S. production plant in Fayetteville, Tennessee. The plant will create 75 jobs.

** American Fuji Seal plans to locate a new production operations in North Carolina’s Catawba County and will employ 101 workers by 2025 according to Gov. Roy Cooper.

** Amazon’s first fulfillment center in Louisiana will open in the Lafayette Parish city of Carencro. The $100 million center will hire 500 workers but indirectly, the center will result in 982 indirect jobs.

** The EPA announced this week the finalizing of its first-ever proposed greenhouse-gas emissions standards for airplanes. They will be used in commercial aviation and for large business jets to bring the U.S. in alignment with international standards.

** Japan says it intends to eliminate gasoline-powered vehicles and reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
