The landscape of Oklahoma remains nearly void of oil and gas rigs—those skyward reaching and rumbling giants that used to break the night time sky with their bright lights.
Now one has to drive for miles and miles before seeing any oil rig activity in the dark that envelops Oklahoma.
How quickly the industry plunged into the depths of economic chaos and the result has left energy leaders still stunned, all these months after the industry started a wind-down that was then fueled by the coronavirus pandemic.
βIt is absolutely awful,β said Brook Simmons, president of the Petroleum Alliance of Oklahoma in a recent interview.
