Oil and gas companies sued by state of New Mexico

The New Mexico State Land Office filed lawsuits against multiple oil and gas companies the office alleged were in violation of obligations to remediate land used for extraction operations after production ceased.

The Albuquerque Journal reported the civil actions were brought this fall against the operators and other users of state trust land for breaching land reclamation clauses on tracts of trust land after leases expired.
