Oil and gas drilling on New Mexico public land opposed, citing air pollution concerns

Environmentalists are fighting the January sale of oil and gas drilling leases in New Mexico and Texas by the Bureau of Land Management.

They filed written protests of the Jan. 14, 2021 auction of 6,442 acres in the Permian Basin located in the two states.

The Carlsbad Current Argus reports WildEarth Guardians, the Center for Biological Diversity, Sierra Club Rio Grande Chapter, Western Environmental Law Center and the Waterkeeper Alliance all signed on to the protest.
