The head of the National Nuclear Security Administration, Lisa Gordon-Hagerty resigned on Friday and Oklahoma U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe isn’t happy about it saying she was forced out of office by the Secretary of Energy.

Inhofe ripped Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette who had been odds for a year with Gordon-Hagerty after he requested less funding for NNSA than was asked by her.

“That the Secretary of Energy effectively demanded her resignation during this time of uncertainty demonstrates he doesn’t know what he’s doing in national security matters and shows a complete lack of respect for the semi-autonomous nature of NNSA,” Inhofe said in a statement released Friday night.

Inhofe chairs the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee and accused Brouillette of forcing Gordon-Hagerty out of the office she held since becoming the first woman to head the agency in February 2018.

He described Gordon-Hagerty as “an exemplary public servant and remarkable leader of the National Nuclear Security Administration.
