Hunt Energy CEO to Speak Nov. 18 at OU About the ‘Energy Addition’

Hunt Energy CEO Hunter Hunt of Dallas will discuss the growth of renewable energy and what that means for hydrocarbons on the Nov. 18 episode of the University of Oklahoma Energy Institute’s webcast.

The Energy Institute announcement said his message comes at a time when many people are talking about the upcoming “energy transition,” a move away from a world dominated by molecules — oil and natural gas — to one dominated by electrons.

Hunt said he thinks of this more as an “energy addition” rather than an “energy transition.”

“Make no mistake, the growth of renewable energy is real and is coming, but hydrocarbons aren’t going away anytime soon,” Hunt said.

Launched in June, “The Future of Energy” webcast series features guest speakers and covers topics in the energy sector such as hydrocarbon, renewables and the changing energy landscape. The complimentary episodes are available online at price.ou.edu/energywebcast.

In the newest episode, Hunt will speak with moderator Harry N. Pefanis, who is president, CCO and director of Plains All American GP LLC and a member of the Energy Institute’s board of advisors.

As part of the Price College of Business, the Energy Institute is home to the Executive MBA in Energy program. The institute provides a community of practitioners and academics to advance innovative and sustainable solutions to the critical energy challenges facing the nation and, more broadly, the global community through education, research and outreach.
