North Dakota proposes a pilot program for longer semis–“road trains”

 

Those long-road triple semis like the kind used in Australia might be coming to North Dakota where a legislative committee voted overwhelmingly to support approval on state highways.

The fully-stocked triple trailer “road trains” as they’re called will reach nearly two-thirds of the length of a football field and weigh nearly 360,000 pounds. Imagine getting stuck behind one of them and attempting to pass it on a two-lane highway.
