Somebody’s drilling in Oklahoma

 

Houston-based Ovintiv Mid-Continent Inc. is one of the first producers to report some of the first major producing oil wells in Oklahoma in months as it completed two groups of family wells in Kingfisher County.

The company’s 5 wells were completed at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic which has resulted in a near stoppage of most drilling in the state.

Both groups  of wells are located at two adjacent sites about 7 miles south of the town of Loyal and one three-well pad had combined production of 1,380 barrels of oil a day. The Alan 1609 wells had spud dates in December 2019 with completion dates in March 2020.

The largest of the 3 wells at 13 16N 9W had production of 583 barrels of oil a day and 793 Mcf of natural gas when completed March 15, 2020. Another of the wells produced 532 barrels of oil a day and 1,067 Mcf of natural gas when completed March 16.  The third well produced 265 barrels of oil a day and 392 Mcf of natural gas with a completion date of March 18, 2020.

Each of the wells had a drilling depth of more than 19,000 feet into the Mississippian play.

Two other Alan 1609 wells were drilled at a pad across the section line at 12 16N 9W with combined production of 644 barrels of oil a day. One well with production of 644 barrels of oil a day and 1,216 Mcf of natural gas was completed March 11, 2020. The second well produced 430 barrels of oil a day and 1,065 Mcf of natural gas with completion on March 13, 2020.

One other well was recently completed in northern Oklahoma according to reports filed with the Corporation Commission. Vertical-well driller, Trans Pacific Oil Corporation reported completion of the T3 A 2-36R well at 36 29N 13W in Woods county. The well, located about 4 miles north of State highway 11 and 4 miles west of State highway 8 near the Kansas state line had production of only 6 barrels of oil a day and 27 Mcf of natural gas.
