Universal Service Fund extension announced by administrator

An extension to the end of the year has been made for those schools, libraries and healthcare facilities who receive Oklahoma Universal Service Fund money to temporarily increase their entity’s bandwidth because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

OUSF Administrator Brandy Wreath with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission had earlier announced in March that recipients of the OUSF funding could temporarily increase their bandwidth without extra cost. But the additional funding would also return to previously approved funding after Sept. 30, 2020.

But things have changed and Wreath said because of the “continued challenges facing our schools, libraries, mental health facilities and healthcare facilities” he was extending the temporary emergency funding through at least Dec. 31, 2020.
