Oil and gas firms targeted for their campaign contributions

Oklahoma U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe was among those singled out by SLUDGE, an investigative journalism website for taking campaign money from oil and gas interests and urging the government to give financial relief to those firms.

SLUDGE reported that as the economy collapsed in the pandemic, oil and gas companies that have donated over $10 million to Republican super PACs got tax breaks and lease pauses from Interior Secretary David Bernhardt, a former fossil fuel industry lobbyist. Among them was one oil and gas company that contributed to Sen. Jim Inhofe, the Republican Senator seeking re-election.
