Investor buys former Halliburton command center at El Reno

Halliburton is a step closer to bringing a total end to its connections to El Reno, Oklahoma where the company closed its Remote Operations Command Center in December 2019.

The company recently sold the 86-acre site where it had 32,252 square feet of office space and a 93,500 square foot maintenance shop. CBRE had advertised the Halliburton property and announced the sale to an undisclosed buyer. The purchase price was also not revealed but the sales price had been $16 million.

Not included in the sale was an adjacent rail operation involving frac sand. The Halliburton property that sold is located on the south side of old Route 66 highway while the frac sand operation was on the north side.

“We are honored to have represented Halliburton in the disposition of this property,” said Randy Lacey, a CBRE vice president, according to The Oklahoman. “Despite the uncertainties that have accompanied the pandemic, we are seeing that local investors are still confident in the Oklahoma City and surrounding area industrial market.”

El Reno Mayor Matt White was thankful for the announced sale.

“We were really worried about something being out there desolate for several years.”

He is aware of the owner and said he will meet with him in the near future. White also declined to reveal the identity of the buyer and only explained the new owner is involved in the energy, construction and financial sectors.
