ODOT Commission to meet Monday

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission will hold its monthly meeting by video teleconference at 11 a.m. Monday, June 1 due to COVID-19 precautions. Members of the public and media will be able to access the web livestream video as usual or listen by phone by following the instructions at the bottom.

Items to be addressed at the meeting include:

  • Two major Oklahoma Department of Transportation interstate projects that will greatly affect traffic in the Oklahoma City metro area could be starting in the coming months, as the commission will consider contracts for a nearly $80 million project to replace six structurally deficient bridges on I-40 in Del City and a $27.5 million project to rehabilitate the pavement and nine bridges on I-44 between I-40 and I-240.
  • Secretary of Transportation and ODOT Executive Director Tim Gatz will report on state funding for transportation for Fiscal Year 2021 and update commissioners on the financing arrangement for the Gilcrease Expressway project in Tulsa, which includes ODOT as a partner with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and local entities.
  • Gatz will introduce the agency’s new Division Three Engineer, who directs all highway construction and maintenance in 11 south-central counties, including a portion of the Oklahoma City metro area.
  • Gatz will also highlight two recently-completed highway projects near Beavers Bend State Park and Grand Lake that were opened to traffic in time for the beginning of the summer tourist season.
