The price of oil rose again on Wednesday but less than half a dollar a barrel. Trading saw a second day of at least one major oil company’s shares climbing significantly.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 48 cents before ending the day at $24.49 a barrel, a change of 2 percent. Brent crude in London rose 36 cents to reach $27.51, a change of 1.33 percent.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, natural gas finished up one cent at $1.66.
Phillips 66 saw another big increase, moving up $4.92 a share to reach $50.50 which represented a change of 10.79 percent.
SandRidge Energy shares rose 33 cents to hit $1.19, a change of 37.62 percent. CHesapeake Energy shares dropped one cent and fell to $0.185.
Devon shares slipped 25 cents to $7.16 per share, for a change of 3.38 percent. Marathon Oil dropped 3 cents to hit $3.58 per share.
ONEOK based in Tulsa was down $1.06 per share and finished the day at $23.11 for a change of 4.80 percent. American Electric Power added $1.24 per share to end Wednesday’s trading at $73.29.
