BlackRock’s ownership in Chesapeake Energy shares

A new SEC filing by Chesapeake Energy shows New Jersey investment firm BlackRock Inc. owns 5.9% of the company’s shares. In a Monday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Chesapeake indicated BlackRock owned 109,823,799 shares in what was described as sole voting power. The number of shares in dispositive power is 115,006,166 shares.  

State tax revenues from oil and gas are are down for 5th straight month

Oklahoma has marked the fifth straight month of declines in revenue from gross production taxes on oil and gas. NOV reports increased 4Q earnings but still experienced losses over the year

A seven percent increase in earnings was reported by National Oilwell Varco, Inc. in the fourth quarter of 2019 compared to its third quarter financial earnings but the company also experienced a loss of $385 million. Oil and gas rig numbers slide in Oklahoma

While the North American rig count held steady over the past week, the number of rigs active in Oklahoma dropped. Oklahoma’s county fell by three to 50 working oil and gas rigs.
