Congressman says new WOTUS strikes the right balance

Oklahoma Congressman Markwayne Mullin joined others in his delegation in applauding the Trump administration’s repeal of the Waters of the U.S. rule.

He called it the “old, harmful WOTUS rule” in responding to last week’s action by the Environmental Protection Agency and said the new rule “clearly defines a WOTUS” and “strikes the right balance between the regulatory authority of the federal government and allowing states to take care of their own natural resources.”

Rep. Mullin, who represents eastern Oklahoma’s 2nd U.S. House District said the Obama WOTUS rule allowed Washington bureaucrats to regulate the streams and creeks in the backyards of Oklahomans.

“In reality, these bureaucrats don’t know the first thing about our backyards.”
