Chesapeake shares sag again

Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy struggles on Wall Street where shares closed Tuesday at 67 cents each, a drop of 1.23% from Monday’s trading.

The natural gas company has seen shares drop 11.46% in the past month and 18.5% in the past year. While the Exchange’s Oils-Energy sector has seen a gain of 4.51%, Chesapeake shares have lost their value.

Next to Tulsa’s Unit Corporation which closed Tuesday at 48 cents a share, it is one of the lowest trading companies of oil and gas firms in Oklahoma.

But analysts are not optimistic as Chesapeake approaches its next earnings report where they expect the company to post earnings of $0.06 a share. If that occurs, it would be a year-over-year drop of 128.57%.  Many speculators contend the company is likely to report revenue of $1.26 billion, down 27.48% from the previous-year quarter.
