Climate change protesters in Madison, Wisconsin recently forced the shutdown of a Chase Bank branch because they don’t like the bank’s investment in the Canadian company Enbridge.
Enbridge is attempting to expand its pipeline that carries tar sand oil through Wisconsin. Protesters from 350 Madison Climate Action Team filled the lobby of the Sauk Creek Chase Bank branch, sat down on the floor and began calling for divestment of fossil fuel infrastructure, according to a report by the free alternative newspaper, Isthmus.
The paper reported that Madison police eventually arrested two protesters and cited three others for disorderly conduct.
