DEQ to use VW settlement money to install 55 EV charging stations in Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality announced that the ChargeOK grant program has issued awards for $1,453,933 to install 55 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Oklahoma.

A second round of awards will be announced in the future. DEQ set aside the maximum allowed portion of its VW Settlement funds to support ChargeOK, Oklahoma’s EV charging equipment grant program. The Oklahoma Secretary of Energy and Environment, DEQ, Department of Transportation, and Corporation Commission created the program to build a strategic charging network across Oklahoma.

Projects funded by the program will be accessible to the public and integrate well with existing stations and other planned charging locations. The new stations will make EV travel practical throughout the state of Oklahoma, reducing EV range anxiety and mobile vehicle air pollution.
