Oklahoma’s jobless rate remains unchanged for September

Despite a slowdown in Oklahoma’s oil and gas fields, the state’s jobless rate for September remained unchanged at 3.2 percent according to an announcement by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

September’s rate was the same for the past five months. It also meant Oklahoma’s employed force grew 4,763 since May, reaching a total of 1,791,305 while only 59,564 are not employed.

While Oklahoma’s rate remained at 3.2 percent the U.S. jobless rate fell to 3.5 percent. However, Oklahoma’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose 0.1 percent over September 2018.

Oklahoma’s labor force totaled 1,850,869 in September compared to 1,845,520 in August and 1,828,733 in May.

Oil and Gas, figured under the Mining and Construction sector by the state saw no change in employment from August to September and remained at 136,700. But it was 1,500 more than September of 2018 which was a 1.1 percent increase.
