Mullin blasts Democrats over energy bills

Congressman Markwayne Mullin is accusing Democratic leaders of trying to undermine the U.S. energy security and economic success instead of working on other more important measures.

In a weekly update for his constituents, the Republican Representative said much needs to be done for the American people including approval of appropriations bills that fund the federal government, passing the National Defense Authorization Act and finalizing the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement trade deal.

“But instead of working on all these important issues, Speaker Pelosi is putting bills on the floor that undermine our energy security and economic success. These three natural resources bills, H.R. 205H.R. 1941, and H.R. 1146 are misguided attempts to restrict energy development throughout federal lands and off our coasts,” wrote the congressman.

“We have an abundance of energy resources right here at home and we should be utilizing them in an ‘all of the above energy’ strategy. Millions of Americans rely on our energy industry for their livelihoods and to keep the lights on at a price they can afford. It also ensures that we are not dependent on foreign oil to meet our energy needs. These bills threaten to take all that away,” he added.

Earlier in the week, Rep. Mullin helped introduce the American Energy First Act which he described as an “all-of-the’above” energy strategy.
