Energy firm helps Canadian County with road repairs

A $30,000 pledge doesn’t sound like much when oil and gas companies spend millions on drilling wells. But it’s welcome relief for Canadian County Commissioner Marc Hader.

Chaparral Energy has made the pledge toward an estimated $85,000 in repairs to Manning Road between Hefner Road and NW 122. The Yukon Review reports the energy company offered to help pay for repairs after admitting its heavy trucks tore up the road.

“When they offered $30,000, I didn’t negotiate or haggle,” said Commissioner Hader. “I thought that was nice. We don’t necessarily have any leverage to force them to help.”

He called it “nice” that the company stepped up to help with repairs when it didn’t have to do so.
