Senator opposes Oklahoma office in DC

Oklahoma U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe isn’t so sure he likes Gov. Stitt’s plan for a Washington office.

As The Oklahoman reported this week, the Senator admitted he was surprised by the governor’s plan.

“We’ve done that before. I never was very excited about it before,” he told the newspaper. “Before this day is over, I will communicate to him either directly or indirectly that I don’t think it’s a good idea. In fact, I’m going to do it as soon as I hang up.”

He wasn’t able to contact the governor but a face-to-face meeting is planned before Inhofe and others in the Senate and House return to D.C. after Labor Day.

On the other hand, Rep. Tom Cole likes the idea.

“I actually think it’s a good idea,” he told The Oklahoman. “So if the governor thinks this is helpful and the legislative leadership seems to think it’s helpful, I’m certainly supportive.”
