Newest wind farm going up in eastern Colorado

The nation’s newest wind farm will be built in eastern Colorado near the Interstate 70 city of Limon, a city whose elevation is actually higher than the mile-high city of Denver.

Holy Cross Energy and Guzman Energy signed an agreement to build the 150 megawatt Arriba Wind Farm in Lincoln County where Hugo is the county seat. The farm should be operational by mid 2021.

According to a press release, Holy Cross intends to purchase 100MW of output from the MW Arriba Wind Farm, to be located in Lincoln County near Limon. That should be enough energy to supply approximately 30 percent of HCE’s annual energy requirements within its service area that covers much of Garfield, Eagle and Pitkin counties.
