OGE to hand out fans to keep poor and elderly cool

OG&E is launching its 13th annual fan donation program by delivering 1,200 electric fans to social service agencies serving low-income and elderly residents across its service area in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

The fan donations are part of OG&E’s Silver Energy™ Program which provides seniors with residential choices designed to increase their comfort, safety and savings.

“We’re working in partnership with agencies in the local communities that work directly with those in need,” said Kathleen O’Shea, OG&E spokeswoman. “Many of these agencies are focused on seniors who can benefit from a fan and other programs and services offered by our Silver Energy™ Program.”

In Oklahoma City, fans were delivered to Areawide Aging Agency, The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command, and Community Action Agency. Metro-area residents needing a fan may contact these organizations directly. Select agencies outside of the metro area will receive their fans over the next two weeks. All fans will be distributed to elderly and low-income residents based on each agency’s criteria.
