Bankruptcy case of White Star Petroleum will stay in OKC

A report indicates the bankruptcy of White Star Petroleum, the company whose bankruptcy has stalled more than one lawsuit will remain in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoman reported over the weekend that the case will stay in Oklahoma City bankruptcy court where five creditors filed the involuntary case against the firm in May. White Star sought to have the case moved to Delaware Bankruptcy court.

A judge in Delaware issued an order transferring the case to Oklahoma City where U.S. Bankruptcy judge Janice D. Loyd also denied White Star’s bid to suspend the involuntary action.

White Star is a nearly 3-year old company formed from Aubrey McClendon’s American Energy Partners LP. The company was sued by residents of counties hit by earthquakes.

White Star still has 169 employees as well as 315,000 leased acres in creek, Dewey, Garfield, Lincoln, Logan, Noble and Payne counties.
